Collaboration for common good

The COMMON_ACCESS consortium is a dynamic collaboration of 18 partners from five European countries, bringing together a diverse mix of research organisations, development and innovation actors, and urban stakeholders. This well-rounded consortium includes both academic and non-academic partners such as local authorities, SMEs and NGOs, ensuring a high level of transdisciplinary expertise. With a strong track record in co-creative collaboration and advanced research methodologies, our partners are well-equipped to drive the impactful, practice oriented accessibility research in the understudied area of urban peripheries.

Universities

University of Westminster

The University of Westminster hosts an internationally recognized centre of excellence in research in transport planning. Since 1971, the University of Westminster has established a prominent reputation for carrying out a wide range of academic and applied transport research.

Universiteit Van Amsterdam

The University of Amsterdam is a research university with a leading reputation worldwide.  The Centre for Urban Studies (CUS) is a university research priority area supporting interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary collaborative projects on urban issues.

Politecnico di Milano

Politecnico di Milano (POLIMI) is a public scientific-technological university that trains engineers, architects, urban and territorial planners, and designers, ranked among the top universities in the world by the QS World University Rankings by Subject (in 2024 Ranking 7th in Architecture). The Department of Architecture and Urban Studies is one of Italy's most important interdisciplinary research structures in urban and territorial studies.


 

Universiteit Gent
 

Ghent University is one of the leading Belgian universities with a strong international profile and focus on innovation and knowledge transfer. UGent employs around 8,400 research staff and attracts about 50,000 students. It invests over 420 million Euros (number for 2020) in research projects on behalf of public and private partners.

London School of Economics and Political Science

The London School of Economics and Political Science is a world-class university, consistently ranked in the top five global institutions for the social sciences. Over the last decade, LSE Cities has developed a wide range of research and engagement projects focused on urban data and governance analytics and applied urban research led by Dr Philipp Rode and Dr Nuno da Cruz.

Technische Universitaet München

TUM has a strong international reputation and was among the best 60 universities worldwide in the Shanghai Ranking 2019. The Chair of Urban Structure and Transport Planning (CUSTP) is part of the TUM Department of Civil, Geo and Environmental Engineering. The interdisciplinary team has a rich experience in development, assessment and governance of innovative urban mobility solutions and is a leading member of EIT Urban Mobility. 

Local Authorities

Provincia di Pavia
 
 

Provincia di Pavia is an autonomous local public body with its statute and regulations; its main task is to look after the local community's interests and promote and coordinate its development. Provincia di Pavia takes the role of "cooperation partner" in the COMMON_ACCESS project and is available to get involved in the project for supporting the construction of inter-municipal processes, facilitating the participation of several municipalities, potentially involved in the test-bed

Gemeente Amsterdam
 

The Department of Spatial Planning and Sustainability is the largest design agency in Europe, with 600 employees with different experiences for keeping the city of Amsterdam fit in the future.

Muncher Verkehrs - und Tarifverbund 

The Munich Transport and Tariff Association (MVV GmbH) is the transit authority of Munich and eight surrounding districts, with around three million inhabitants. The MVV is responsible for the organisation, planning and promoting of local public transport in its network area. The association's shareholders are the Free State of Bavaria, the City of Munich and the eight surrounding districts.

Provincia di Bergamo
 

Provincia di Bergamo is a territorial authority with competences in urban and transport planning and policy covering an area of 2.723 sqkm with 243 municipalities and 1,1 million inhabitants. The Provincial territory is composed of different settlement systems featuring a highly industrialized flat area, important pre-Alpine valleys that constitute linear urban and productive systems, and mountainous areas with low population density.

Oxfordshire County Council

Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) serves 725,000 residents living in both the countryside and in cities and towns. OCC has 5,500 employees and a budget of £1bn to deliver services and projects covering areas including transport, walking and cycling, education, social care, fire, libraries, climate action, and public health. OCC work closely with our five district councils to deliver our council's ambition to create a greener, fairer and healthier county.

Derek Halden Consultancy LTD

DHC was set up in 1996 to provide planning and design services for user focused and collaborative transport planning approaches. DHC has helped national government departments in the UK and globally define new accessibility planning frameworks for land use, transport and community planning including advising on the implementation of these within developing land use and community planning legislation including helping to draft the rules and guidance that frame the growing discipline of accessibility planning across the world.

NGOs

Living Streets
 

Living Streets LS is the UK charity for everyday walking. Living Streets aim at creating a nation where walking is the natural choice for every day, local journeys; free from congested roads and pollution, reducing the risk of preventable illnesses and social isolation. We want to achieve a better walking environment and to inspire people of all generations to enjoy the benefits the simple act of walking brings. For over 90 years LS has been a beacon for walking.


Collaborative Mobility UK

CoMoUK is the national charity for the public benefit of shared transport. Founded in 1999, CoMoUK enters its third decade with expertise in car clubs and bike share. It has now broadened into other areas of shared mobility, including the e-scooter trials and, most recently, digital demand responsive transport (DDRT/DRT). Other fields are increasingly becoming part of CoMoUK’s awareness, for example, e-cargo bike operations and mobility as a service.
